In our chat with Steve, we went in-depth about what people are looking for when they start sleep shopping, and how our leading technology and design can make that decision a little easier.
First, we talked to Steve about his role here at Reverie:
How long have you worked at Reverie?

What do you love about the company?
There are two things. One: being able to be a part of a company that is truly trying to change an industry is really rewarding. The innovation and technology that we are coming up with are second to none. I look forward to explaining to people what I do and the products and services we offer because they always come away in awe of everything. Two: I get to work with a great group of people. It’s almost like a second family. Everybody is super helpful and willing and I’ve been able to gain a lot of great friendships through my time here.
What’s the highlight of your job?
Being able to actually make a difference in people's lives. So many people struggle to get a solid night's sleep, so whether it is getting them into something much more comfortable or giving them the relief that they need due to a certain health condition/injury is a great feeling. My biggest satisfaction is hearing clients I’ve worked with months or years back saying how much our Sleep System has helped them.
You recently went to CES to present Reverie Connect™. Can you tell us about that?
Yes! So this was our second year at CES, my first. I probably presented to over 100 CES attendees the upcoming Reverie Connect and the R600 adjustable base. People were blown away by both the product and our vision as a company. Being able to show off something that these people have never seen before incorporated into their bedroom and see their faces after giving them the full demonstration was a great experience. I got to talk with a ton of interesting consumers as well as other businesses who were really impressed with our upcoming technology. The vast majority of everyone I talked to wished they could get a better night’s sleep, so being able to actually show them how we can help was pretty amazing to see.
There are so many mattresses and bases to choose from in the market. How should someone begin their research? What’s the deciding factor?
Most people are dealing with something, whether it’s physical or an issue with their current mattress. Focus on that and see how different options out there can help solve your problem. The deciding factor is different for everyone. Most people just want relief, so they are looking for something that can fit their needs. Finding something of value is a big one too. It’s an investment and people are looking for quality. A lot of people will read reviews to best gauge how others experienced the product.
How would you describe a power base to someone who’s not familiar?
I keep it very simple. A power base gives you control of your bed and allows you to sleep and relax in different elevated positions with your head and/or feet up.
What’s one tip you’d give someone who isn’t sleeping well?
Make a routine. Consistency is huge when it comes to sleep. Set a bedtime routine and try to go to bed around the same time each and every night. You can have the best bed in the world but if you’re not doing the proper things prior to sleep you’re not going to sleep to the best of your ability.

“How is this different from other mattresses?”
Our patented Dream Cell technology allows you to finally have a mattress that fits you perfectly. Different parts of our body require different support levels so having something that allows you to micro-target different parts of the bed comes in handy. It can be changed and modified over time as well. Our bodies are always changing, so it makes sense to have a mattress that can change along with you.
“My current mattress sleeps really hot—does this mattress do the same thing?”
Our mattress is designed to help you sleep as cool as possible. The breathable materials used within our mattress allow for easy air transfer and do not retain body heat.
“How do I know where to put the cells?”
To start, we build a sleep profile for you. We gather information regarding your sleeping preference and routines, as well as take into consideration any health conditions or injuries that may be hindering your sleep. This profile helps us recommend which one of our firmness configurations would be the best starting point. Over time, if you need to make changes, we have a fantastic Customer Care team that can help our customers redesign their bed at any time.
“Will this mattress work with my existing adjustable base. And will your base work with another mattress?”
Our mattresses absolutely work with other bases. Our mattresses are designed to work hand in hand with an adjustable base. If you are thinking about using another mattress with our base, just make sure to do your research. Not all mattresses are made to be used with an adjustable base. I always recommend that the customer contact the manufacturer of the mattress they plan on using to make sure it is compatible. Also, make sure that the mattress isn’t overly thick. The thicker the mattress, the harder it is to bend into different positions. Our mattresses range from 10 inches to 12 inches, which is ideal.
“I’m hesitant to buy something that I cannot try.”
Understandable. Most mattresses you lay on in a store have actually been tested a thousand times and don’t give you a great feel for how a new mattress would sleep. You really won’t know how a mattress truly feels until you sleep on it night after night. Unlike other mattresses, with ours, if something feels off or uncomfortable, you’re not stuck. With our fully customizable mattress, you can easily make any necessary changes right away to help you sleep better. You don’t have to worry about going through the hassle of swapping out your mattress and going back to the store to test out a softer or firmer bed. You can do all of that in your bedroom with ours.
